How do you prepare company data for artificial intelligence?
You prepare company data for AI by identifying, for a specific task, the information required, its valid source, owner, currency and access rights. You do not need to clean up all the company’s data first. You do, however, need to know which sources AI can trust, how it should recognise a conflict and what it should do when information is missing.
Five qualities of a usable source
For every important piece of information, it must be clear where it originates, who is responsible for it, how often it is updated, who is allowed to see it and which source takes precedence when sources differ.
Start with a specific task
AI used to search internal procedures needs different data from an agent used to prepare a quote. The scope of preparation should therefore be determined by the work you want to delegate, not by an ambition to ‘clean up all the data’.
